Why Start Early With Orthodontic Treatment?

 In News

Did you know that orthodontic treatment can begin as early as age 6 or 7 years old? That’s right, orthodontic treatment and braces are not just for teens. There are many advantages to starting treatment early at Aurora Dental Studio!

At the age of 6 to 7 years old, a child’s teeth and jaws are still developing. At these stages, it can be easier to address issues such as crowding, crossbites or protruding front teeth. Addressing these problems early on can simplify treatment and save on future costs in the long run.

Orthodontic treatment for children can be done in two stages, known as “two-phase treatment”. The first stage of treatment usually involves functional appliances that can help improve the orthodontic issues at hand. The second stage of treatment may involve braces or Invisalign.  Since treatment was started early on, the second stage can often be shorter and less complex.

Orthodontic checkups are recommended as early as age 7, according to the American Association of Orthodontists and the Canadian Association of Orthodontists. Bring your child in for an orthodontic consultation at Aurora Dental Studio to help them achieve a healthy and confident smile that they will have for life!
